Scholomancer
Called Dragon Riders because they can summon destructive storms, these are humans with Noirite ancestry. They are similar to vampires, but they are not the same and not undead. The scholomancers are tall and red-haired, and they seem wild and dangerous. They often appear as beggars, even blind or lame, and they wear ragged, patched peasant garb. Scholomancers learn their craft at the School of the Dragon, a subterranean cave temple near the ruins of Civis Noir in Gwyfned. They undergo a grueling, seven-year curriculum with no sunlight, and there are only ten trainees in each class. The demon Gorsk is their patron, and they may summon him to learn key points in their studies. With their power over weather, lightning, hail, rain, and hurricane-force winds, they may summon destructive storms and wipe out communities, buildings, and crops. They also know the speech of beasts and may freely communicate with all types of animals. Each scholomancer bears an enchanted iron ax used for conjuring and as a lightning rod; they keep wind bottled up in jars, ready to unleash; they use horse reins or golden bridles as magic focuses; and they each carry a Book of Dark Wisdom that is encoded with their scholomantic learning.
